RING IN THE NEW YEAR WITH OUR SAILING & WINDSURFING WINTER CAMP!

KIDS & TEENS AGES 6 – 17 WELCOME

Two Sessions Available:

Dec. 23 – 27, 2024  & Dec. 30 – Jan. 3, 2025


Do your kids yearn for some outdoor adventure away from their screens and toys this winter break? We’re thrilled to announce that we have THEPERFECT remedy for their holiday blues. At our sailing and windsurfing camp kids will have the opportunity to gain new confidence-building skills while discovering the thrill of sail-powered sports on the beautiful waters of Biscayne Bay National Park, our backyard since 1946.

  • CHOOSE BOTH SESSIONS OR JUST ONE:
    We’re offering two different sessions to accommodate families with busy holiday schedules, but we love those campers who attend both weeks.
  • HOURS: 9 am to 3:30 pm daily
  • NO CLASS ON CHRISTMAS OR NEW YEARS’ DAY
  • COST: $400 per child per session

WINTER PROGRAMS OFFERED:
Learn to Sail Optis (ages 6 – 11)
Youngsters will learn the basics of sailing aboard our trainer Optimist boats. This is the primary learning sailboat for children around the world.

Teen Sailing (ages 12 – 17)
This course is designed for middle school aged kids and up who have outgrown the opti. Campers will sail on C420s and a J24. They will learn to rig the boats, the basic points of sail, how to tack and steer a beam reach course.Hours are from 9am to 4pm daily. Cost is $400 per sailor per week.

Windsurfing (ages 6 – 17)
Building on the tremendous success of our summer windsurfing program, we can’t wait to introduce a whole new crop of youngsters to this exciting Olympic class sport over the holidays. We have sails sized for 6 year olds up to 17 year olds along with light weight and short, stable boards ideal for the windsurfing newbie.

DAILY SCHEDULE

8:30 am – 9 am Drop Off

3:30 pm  Camp Ends

330 pm– 415 pm Pickup

DROPOFF/PICKUP PROCEDURES

  • Sailors must be checked in past the main gate with the coaches
  • Sailors must be registered for camp before arriving.
  • Parking past the gate is for Members of CGSC only 
  • Non-members can escort their kids in for the first day to drop off but once roll call is taken parents must leave the premises unless accompanied by a Member of CGSC
  • Pickup starts at 330 PM and ends at 415 PM
  • Sailors will only be released to parents or persons listed on the registration form, coaches will be asking for identification at pick up
  • If any unapproved persons are to collect your sailor(s) you must notify the Sailing Director beforehand, please make sure to do so the first day of camp.
  • Any sailor left at CGSC after pickup times will be assessed After Care Fees. Parents must notify the Sailing Director or Main Office that they will be late.

AFTER CARE

There will be no after care offered during Winter Break.

WHAT TO BRING

  1. Life Jacket/PFD – Type 3 USCG Approved (no collar on the lifejacket)
  2. Non-skid water shoes, NO crocs or open sandals (think flip flops)
  3. Hat
  4. Bagged Lunch
  5. Refillable water bottle
  6. Sunglasses
  7. Sunscreen for reapplication
  8. Change of Clothes
  9. Towel
  10. Bag to store items

NOTE: CGSC is not responsible for lost or stolen items. All items found at end of day are deposited in Lost And Found.

NOTE: CGSC does not provide Life Jackets or Lunch – Sailors must bring both

PARKING

Parking is for Members of the Coconut Grove Sailing Club ONLY. No exceptions. Please follow the rules and we can have a great camp experience!

IN CASE OF BAD WEATHER

CGSC will hold camp rain or shine, in case of bad weather sailors will remain on land doing other activities – however we reserve the right to call for an early dismissal if bad weather persists. No refunds or credits will be given due to inclement weather, or excessive wind.
