Bruce came to CGSC in 2008 after 34 years in public education and 25 years of sailing experience with an ASA Certification. Shortly after he was asked to consider teaching with Richard. In rapid order he got his US Sailing Small Boat Instructor, Level I Certification and started teaching the Sunfish Classes and Clinics. Next he worked for his Basic Keelboat Instructor Certification and started teaching the Basic Keelboat Classes. Then he added a USCG Captain’s License and US Sailing Basic Cruising and Bareboat Cruising Instructor Certifications and started teaching those classes on his boat and the club’s Beneteaus. Finally he added a USCG Master’s 100 Ton License with a Sailing Endorsement. He now teaches both the Basic Cruising and Bareboat Cruising Classes and Certification on his 40 foot sloop. These classes enable successful students to use the club’s Beneteau Fleet and charter a boat anywhere in the world.
