Bruce Penrod Adult Training Chairperson Captain Bruce Penrod serves as the club’s Adult Training Chair, coordinating all of the adult classes and also is the Instructor for the Cruising Classes. He has a USCG Master Captain’s License with Sailing Endorsement and is US Sailing Basic Keelboat through Bareboat Cruising Instructor. In addition to teaching, Bruce has sailed for over 30 years aboard his boats, now a 40 foot very modern sloop, up and down the East Coast, around Florida, and the Bahamas. His classes have been enjoyed by hundreds of students, who have gone on to buy boats, use the club boats, and charter all over the world. Richard Crisler Basic Keelboat Instructor One of our best assets at the CGSC is our Basic Keelboat Instructor, Richard Crisler. A Lifetime Member of 32 years with more than 25 years of teaching experience. Richard has multiple US Sailing Association Instructor Certificates: Basic Keelboat, Level #1 Dingy and Powerboat. Bud Price Flying Scot Instructor Past Commodore Bud Price has extensive racing experience with over 40 years in a Sunfish, Laser, Force 5, Mutineer, Day Sailor, J-27, SR-27, Hunter 29.5 as well as a Nelson Merik 36 and Corsair trimaran. US Sailing Certified for teaching level one small boat, keel boat , power boat and serves as an instructor trainer for US Sailing. Bud raced the Flying Scot in National Championships, competed in the Stoli Cup Miami to Key Largo 4 times and is a licensed captain. Bud hosts CGSC’s popular Wednesday Night Racing, has been a member of CGSC for over 20 years, and is the Flying Scot Fleet Representativ Phil Adams Sunfish Fleet Representative/ Sunfish Instructor Heading up our Adult Sunfish Program is Phil Adams. He has many US Sailing Association Instructor Certificates: Small Boat Levels #1, #2, & #3 and also Basic Keelboat. Danielle Barcillon Keelboat Instructor Sailing has been a source of fun and adventure in Danielle’s life for more than 30 years. She began crewing on race boats and then did a good bit of cruising throughout the Caribbean, French Polynesia, Europe and Florida. Eager to try her hand at the helm, Danielle completed certifications for Basic Keelboat, Basic Cruising, Bareboat Cruising and Basic Keelboat Instructor, all at Coconut Grove Sailing Club. Along the way, she took up racing Flying Scot sailboats. You’ll find her to be a patient and encouraging instructor, who’s happy to share her passion for sailing and the outdoors. |
